No shocking result in a game in Ishikawa where second ranked Kanazawa Sam. (19-5) defeated 5th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (9-17) 83-68 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 53-31 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Kanazawa Sam. made 29-of-38 free shots (76.3 percent) during the game, while Tokyo Cinq R. only scored nine points from the stripe. They outrebounded Tokyo Cinq R. 39-24 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) who added 14 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Guard Kodai Takahashi (180-91) responded with 21 points and American power forward Eric Anderson (204-93, college: New Haven, agency: Duran International) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Kanazawa Sam. have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 19-5 record having just two points less than leader Fukuoka Rizing. Tokyo Cinq R. lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 17 games lost. Kanazawa Sam. will meet at home Toyoda Gosei (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Tokyo Cinq R. will have a break next round.
