Regular Season Round 13: HBA-Marsky - Espoo United 68-73

Very predictable result in Helsinki where second ranked Espoo United (9-4) defeated 10th ranked HBA-Marsky (4-10) 73-68. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-13. But HBA-Marsky won second period 19-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a very good performance for American point guard Jeb Ivey (190-80, college: Portland St.) who helped to win the game recording 27 points. His fellow American import guard Omar Calhoun (198-93, college: Connecticut) contributed with 11 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Center Hannes Polla (210-98) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and point guard Lassi Nikkarinen (184-97) added 19 points and 5 assists in the effort for HBA-Marsky. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Espoo United maintains second place in Division with 9-4 record having just two points less than leader PuHu Juniorit. HBA-Marsky at the other side keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Espoo United's next round opponent will be Jarvenpaa (#6) at home. HBA-Marsky will play against the league's leader Lahti (#1) and hope to win that game.
