Regular Season Round 13: Stelmet ZG - Torun 83-67

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Twarde Pierniki (13-1) in Zielona Gora on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by second ranked Stelmet (11-3) 83-67. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Twarde Pierniki. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-67. Stelmet dominated on the defensive end, holding Twarde Pierniki to just 2 points in second quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international point guard Lukasz Koszarek (187-84) stepped up and scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and Montenegrin power forward Vladimir Dragicevic (206-86) chipped in 12 points and 15 rebounds. Five Stelmet and four Twarde Pierniki players scored in double figures. Stelmet have a solid series of four victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 11-3 record having just two points less than leader Torun. Twarde Pierniki at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Stelmet are looking forward to face Stal Ostrow Wlkp. (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Twarde Pierniki will play against Anwil (#4) in Wloclawek and is hoping to win this game.
