Eighth-ranked Andorra (8-7) made lots of trouble for second ranked Real Madrid (12-3) on Sunday. Real Madrid managed to secure only four-point victory 96-92. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 25-22 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 4-point victory in overtime. Real Madrid outrebounded Andorra 44-31 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Andorra was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. International Sergio Llull (190-87) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 assists for the winners. Mexican power forward Gustavo Ayon (207-85, college: San Jose St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Real Madrid's coach Pablo Laso used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (217-89) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and Czech swingman David Jelinek (195-90, agency: Octagon Europe) added 22 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Five Real Madrid and four Andorra players scored in double figures. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with FC Barcelona. Andorra at the other side keeps the eighth place with seven games lost. Real Madrid will face Joventut (#16) in Badalona in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Andorra will play at home against Sevilla (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
