Regular Season Round 19: FC Barcelona II - Castello 68-81

No shocking result in a game when twelfth ranked Castello (9-10) beat bottom-ranked Barca II (2-16) in Barcelona 81-68 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Castello. Barca II was better in fourth quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Castello forced 20 Barca II turnovers. It was a very good performance for center Maodo Nguirane (210-93) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Joan Faner (176-90) contributed with 12 points, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Forward Jordi Trias (208-80) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and Latvian Rodions Kurucs (206-98) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Barca II. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Castello moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Palma. Barca II lost tenth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Castello will face higher ranked Ourense (#8) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Barca II will play against Gipuzkoa (#3) having rather not much hope for a victory.
