Regular Season Round 16: Baerum Basket - Persbraten 86-85

Tenth-ranked Persbraten (1-16) made lots of trouble for second ranked Baerum Basket (12-4) in Bekkestua. Baerum Basket managed to secure only one-point victory 86-85. However their fans expected much easier game. Persbraten was ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 23-21 charge of Baerum Basket, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Persbraten's 28. Baerum Basket players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Eric Gilchrese (183-87, college: New Hampshire) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Point guard Stian Mjos (183-89) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Gilchrese is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Baerum Basket's coach Matthias Eckhoff allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Hungarian-Swedish guard Zoltan Kurinczky (181-82) replied with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and forward Christian Bakken (198-88) added 23 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Persbraten. Five Baerum Basket and four Persbraten players scored in double figures. Baerum Basket have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-4 record having four points less than leader Kongsberg. Persbraten lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom place with 16 games lost. Baerum Basket will play against league's leader Kongsberg on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Persbraten will play against Asker Aliens (#6) to get more than just one victory in their record.
