Regular Season Round 20: Al Shamal - Al Arabi 68-89
Date: January 10, 2017
Another exciting game was again a derby match of two local teams from Doha: Al Arabi (#3) and Al Shamal (#7). Al Shamal was crushed at home by 21 points 68-89 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Al Arabi. Al Shamal managed to win third quarter 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was an exceptional evening for Nigerian-American power forward Manny Adako (203-87, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. American-Ghanian Adamu Saaka (198-88, college: Furman) accounted for 24 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Four Al Arabi players scored in double figures. Mohamed Haras came up with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 16 rebounds and swingman Abdul Kosar (192) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Al Shamal in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Al Arabi. They maintain third place with 6-3 record having just three points less than leader El Jaysh, which they share with Al Rayyan. Loser Al Shamal keeps the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Al Sadd.
