Regular Season Round 14: Caxias do Sul - Pinheiros 93-99

Very predictable result when fifth ranked Pinheiros (8-5) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Caxias do Sul (2-12) 99-93 on Wednesday. They outrebounded Caxias do Sul 34-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. Pinheiros looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Ralfi Ansaloni (211-87) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Pinheiros players scored in double figures. Forward Arthur Bernardi (206-90, college: Houston Baptist) produced 32 points and 6 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and point guard Gobor Vinicius (185-90) added 15 points and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pinheiros moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Paulistano. Caxias do Sul at the other side stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Pinheiros will meet Vasco Da G. (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Caxias do Sul will have a break next round.
