Regular Season Round 26: Beikong FD - Beijing D. 87-92

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Beijing: Beijing Ducks (#8) and North Control (#17). Despite it looked like an easy game for Beijing Ducks, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Host North Control challenged much higher ranked Beijing Ducks giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by five points 92-87. Beijing Ducks made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. North Control was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Stephon Marbury (188-77, college: Georgia Tech) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international forward Xiaochuan Zhai (205-93) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Beijing Ducks players scored in double figures. American point guard Errick McCollum (185-88, college: Goshen) replied with 27 points and 8 rebounds and forward Liang Yu (209-86) added 24 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) in the effort for North Control. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Beijing Ducks have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 15-11 record. North Control lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighteenth place with 20 games lost. Beijing Ducks will face higher ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (#5) in Hangzhou in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. North Control will play on the road against Shanxi Zhongyu (#11) in Taiyuan and hope to win that game.
