LigaA top team - San Lorenzo (18-6) had no problems winning another game on Wednesday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Penarol (10-15) in Almagra 86-61. The game was mostly controlled by San Lorenzo. Penarol managed to win second period 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Penarol 36-23 including 29 on the defensive glass. Uruguayan center Mathias Calfani (204-92, agency: Pro Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. International Selem Safar (190-87) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Four San Lorenzo players scored in double figures. International center Roberto Acuna (208-90) replied with 16 points and Alejandro Diez (201-87) added 10 points in the effort for Penarol. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first position with 18-6 record. Penarol lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Quilmes MP. San Lorenzo are looking forward to face Atenas (#9) in Cordoba in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Penarol will play at home against Quimsa and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
