Regular Season Round 8: Tadamon - Mayrouba 101-104

Date: January 11, 2017
A very interesting game took place in Zouk. It ended with only three-point home defeat of higher ranked Tadamon (4-4) to ninth ranked Mayrouba (3-5) 104-101 on Wednesday evening. Strangely Tadamon outrebounded Mayrouba 56-39 including a 24-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The winners were led by forward Emmanuel Jones (200-85, college: UTRGV) who scored that evening 28 points and 8 rebounds and center Robert Upshaw (213-94, college: Washington) supported him with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Jones is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 30 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists by guard Earvin Morris (196-94, college: UTEP) did not help to save the game for Tadamon. Forward Herbert Hill (208-84, college: Providence) added 18 points and 19 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mayrouba moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Sagesse and Champville. Tadamon at the other side keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Mayrouba's next round opponent will be higher ranked Al Moutahed (#6) in Tripoli and it may be quite challenging game. Tadamon will play on the road against the league's second-placed Byblos and will have a slim chance for a victory.
