Regular Season Round 14: Shiraz a.s Pipe - Tabriz 69-78

Bottom-ranked Shiraz a.s Pipe (0-13) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 13th consecutive match to fifth ranked Tabriz (8-5) 78-69 on Thursday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Shiraz a.s Pipe won third quarter 21-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American forward Sean Williams (208-86, college: Boston Coll.) who scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Serbian forward Nikola Gacesa (206-87, college: TCU) chipped in 19 points. Tabriz's coach Mehran Hatami used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Hamzeh Aghajari (185-87) produced 26 points and Amir Allahverdi added 15 points respectively for the hosts. Four Shiraz a.s Pipe players scored in double figures. Tabriz moved-up to third place, which they share with Azad and Arak. Newly promoted Shiraz a.s Pipe still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Tabriz will meet at home Azad (#4) in the next round. Shiraz a.s Pipe will play against Shahrdari Gorgan (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
