Regular Season Round 27: Obras Basket - Penarol 86-93
Date: January 13, 2017
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Buenos Aires where 6th ranked Obras Basket (12-12) was defeated by seventh ranked Penarol (12-15) 93-86 on Friday. Obras Basket was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American guard Rob Reed (185-90, college: Concord) who led his team to a victory scoring 32 points. Alejandro Diez (201-87) helped adding 13 points and 11 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Dennis Horner (205-88, college: N.Carolina St.) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and the former international forward Walter Herrmann (206-79) scored 19 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Obras Basket's coach Nicolas Casalanguida rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Penarol maintains seventh place with 12-15 record. Loser Obras Basket keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. Penarol will face higher ranked GECR Indalo (#5) in Comodoro R. in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
