Date: January 13, 2017
Everything went according to plan in Bahia Blanca where third ranked Weber Bahia (15-10) beat 9th ranked Atenas (10-16) 105-93 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Weber Bahia. Atenas was better in second period 27-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Atenas was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for international guard Lucio Redivo (183-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. American center Anthony Laveal Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) helped adding 21 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Pete Mickeal (199-78, college: Cincinnati) with 20 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Bruno Labaque (178-77, agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 assists. Four Weber Bahia and five Atenas players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Weber Bahia. They maintain third place with 15-10 record having just two points less than leader San Lorenzo. Atenas lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 16 games lost. Weber Bahia will face Quimsa (#5) in Santiado Estero in the next round. Atenas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Cordoba to the arena Instituto.
