Regular Season Round 13: Njardvik - Snaefell 99-70

Bottom-ranked Snaefell is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 13th consecutive match to tenth ranked Njardvik (5-8) 99-70. The game was mostly controlled by Njardvik. Snaefell was better in second period 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Njardvik dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Snaefell's 30. Njardvik forced 24 Snaefell turnovers and outrebounded them 48-37 including 21 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 35 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by Snaefell's players. American guard Myron Dempsey (203-91, college: Paul Quinn, agency: Mansfield and Associates) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The former international Logi Gunnarsson (190-81) chipped in 14 points and 8 assists. Four Njardvik players scored in double figures. Point guard Viktor Alexandersson (180-97) produced 20 points and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and guard Arni Hrafnsson (185-98) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Njardvik maintains tenth place with 5-8 record, which they share with Haukar. Snaefell at the other side still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Njardvik's next round opponent will be league's leader Stjarnan on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Snaefell will play against Keflavik (#7) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
