Regular Season Round 15: Al-Qazeres - Campus Promete 70-82

There was a surprise result in Caceres where ninth ranked Campus Promete (7-8) defeated higher ranked Al-Qazeres (8-7) 82-70 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Campus Promete. Al-Qazeres was better in second period 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Campus Promete made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Campus Promete outrebounded Al-Qazeres 49-26 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Laura Herrera (190-89) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds. American Leslie Knight (184-86) helped adding 14 points and 10 rebounds. Four Campus Promete players scored in double figures. Campus Promete's coach Andreu Bou used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Ameryst Alston (175-93, college: Ohio St.) with 26 points and 4 assists and American-Italian swingman Pamela Rosanio (178-86, college: Massachusetts) scored 21 points. Campus Promete moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Al-Qazeres keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Campus Promete will face higher ranked Araski (#4) in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al-Qazeres will play on the road against the league's second-placed Argon Uni Girona and hope to win that game.
