Regular Season Round 15: Vitoria - Paulistano 85-73

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Salvador. Third ranked Universo/Vitoria faced 4th placed Paulistano. Host Universo/Vitoria (9-4) defeated guests from Sao Paolo (8-6) 85-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Paulistano. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) who led the winners and scored 26 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. His fellow American import guard Keyron Sheard (188-86, college: Chattanooga, agency: Haylett Sports) accounted for 23 points for the winning side. Universo/Vitoria's coach Regis Marrelli allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international center Guilherme Hubner (208-87) came up with 16 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Arthur Pecos (183-95) added 8 points and 9 assists respectively for Paulistano in the defeat. Four Paulistano players scored in double figures. Universo/Vitoria have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 9-4 record having just three points less than leader Brasilia. Paulistano at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Universo/Vitoria's next round opponent will be Mogi (#9) in Mogi das Cruzes which should be theoretically an easy game. Paulistano will play at home against Campo Mourao (#8) and hope to win that game.
