Regular Season Round 14: JyWe - Korikouvot 79-85

There was no surprise in Jyvaskyla where 11th ranked JyWe (4-11) was defeated by fourth ranked Korikouvot (10-4) 85-79 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But JyWe won third quarter 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Korikouvot looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was swingman Teemu Knihtinen (195-98) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists. Power forward Juuso Maenpaa (198-93) chipped in 19 points. Russian point guard Sergei Chudinovskich (193-81) produced 20 points and 6 assists and forward Sami Mantymaa (193-88) added 16 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Despite that victory Korikouvot went down to fifth position (Division) due to points difference. Newly promoted JyWe dropped to the tenth place with 11 games lost. Korikouvot will face league's leader TuNMKY in Turun in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. JyWe will play on the road against Raholan Pyrkiva (#6) in Tampere and hope to win that game.
