Regular Season Round 18: GOCOR-Sozh - Vitebsk 68-88

The game in Gomel supposed to be also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Vitebsk (10-7) played at the court of 8th ranked GOCOR-Sozh (2-13). Vitebsk did not have too big problems ending evening with a very confident victory 88-68 on Friday. The game without a history. Vitebsk led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to GOCOR-Sozh's 32. Vitebsk forced 19 GOCOR-Sozh turnovers and outrebounded them 40-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Point guard Ivan Aladko (193-95) notched 24 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and forward Victor Ovsepyan (204-91) supported him with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 21 points by point guard Tsimafei Viaroukin (186-93) did not help to save the game for GOCOR-Sozh. Power forward Aleksandr Kopacev (203-95) added 13 points and 9 rebounds. Five Vitebsk and four GOCOR-Sozh players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vitebsk have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 10-7 record. Loser GOCOR-Sozh dropped to the bottom place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Brest. Vitebsk will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. GOCOR-Sozh will play again against Vitebsk (#4) and hope to secure a win.
