There was a surprise result when seventh ranked Scrivia (8-6) won against at home second-ranked Empoli (11-3) 65-58 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 17-9. But Empoli won second period 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guard Silvia Gabba (170-82) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points. Point guard Francesca Rosso (174-96) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Lithuanian forward Gabriele Narviciute (190-90) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and Czech center Klara Pochobradska (186-89) added 15 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Empoli. Scrivia maintains seventh position in A2 with 8-6 record. Loser Empoli keeps the second place with three games lost. Scrivia will face higher ranked Costa Masnaga (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Empoli will play against Orvieto (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
