Regular Season Round 14: Segle XXI - Cortegada 56-74

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Segle XXI's (7-7) home loss to fourth ranked Cortegada (8-5) 56-74 on Saturday. The game without a history. Cortegada led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The best player for the winners was Senegalese center Amy Syll (196-93) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Sara Gomez (172-86) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Aina Ayuso (181-99) produced 19 points and Carolina Mateo added 8 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Cortegada maintains fourth position in Group A with 8-5 record. Segle XXI lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with seven games lost. Cortegada will face Azkoitia (#11) in Azpeitia in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Segle XXI will play on the road against GDKO Bizkaia (#7) in Galdakao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
