Regular Season Round 15: Castellbisbal - Cornella 78-80

There was a surprise result when seventh ranked Cornella (7-5) edged on the road 3rd placed Castellbisbal (7-5) 80-78 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 24-13 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Cornella especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. It was a great evening for guard Joan Pilan (192-93) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Point guard Nestor Zamora (178-84) helped adding 12 points and 4 assists. Cornella's coach Marc Solanes allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was forward Marc Manes (196-86) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and guard Roger Guardia (193-85, college: CS Fullerton) scored 17 points and 4 assists. Four Castellbisbal players scored in double figures. Cornella moved-up to fifth place in Group C-A, which they share with Arenys and Castellbisbal. Cornella will face Salt (#9) at home in the next round. Castellbisbal will play against JAC Sants (#11) in Barcelona and hope to win that game.
