Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Alpo VF (7-6) defeated 9th ranked Castellammare (4-9) in Verona 68-58 on Saturday. Castellammare was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 24-10 charge of Alpo VF, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 25 Castellammare turnovers. Bosnian Marina Dzinic (190-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field). Point guard Sofia Vespignani (170-96) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Alpo VF's coach Nicola Soave used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Lucia Di Costanzo (185-92) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Raffaella Potolicchio (169-90) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Castellammare. Alpo VF maintains seventh position in A2 with 7-6 record. Loser Castellammare keeps the ninth place with nine games lost. Alpo VF will face higher ranked Civitanova (#3) in Civitanova Marche in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
