Regular Season Round 15: Medacbasket - Meridiano Baza 68-57

Everything could happen in Malaag at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Medacbasket and 6th ranked Meridiano Baza had identical 5-6 record. This time Medacbasket used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Alicante 68-57 on Saturday night. Medacbasket outrebounded Meridiano Baza 38-17 including a 22-9 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American guard Taylor Cameron (196-91, college: Winona St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Pablo Ibanez (198-93) helped adding 17 points. Four Medacbasket players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Javier Mesa (206-77) with 22 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and center Jorge Rodriguez (198-94) scored 15 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Medacbasket have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place in Group D-A, which they share with Coin. Meridiano Baza lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Medacbasket will face higher ranked Unicaja B (#3) in Malaga in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Meridiano Baza will play on the road against Coin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
