Regular Season Round 18: Quimper - Orchies 86-87

The game had a very big importance for ninth-ranked Orchesien BC as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Orchesien BC edged second-best Quimper UJAP on the road 87-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Quimper UJAP. Quimper UJAP was ahead by 4 points at the halftime before a 25-18 third quarter run of Orchesien BC. They made 25-of-27 charity shots (92.6 percent) during the game. American point guard Benjamin Smith (178-87, college: Jacksonville) scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and Montenegrin power forward Zarko Rakocevic (204-84, agency: Mansfield and Associates) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Five Orchesien BC players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Dwight Burke (202-86, college: Marquette) with 24 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Maxime Choplin (181-92) scored 16 points and 8 assists. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 3 other teams. Quimper UJAP at the other side still keeps top place with five games lost. Quimper UJAP will play next round against Lorient trying to get back on the winning streak. Orchesien BC will try to continue on its current victory against fifteenth ranked Vendee Challans at home.
