Regular Season Round 15: Groningen - Leiden 101-77

An interesting game for Groningen (14-1) which hosted in Groningen 3rd placed Leiden (9-6). First ranked Groningen had an easy win 101-77. The game without a history. Groningen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Leiden's 30 and made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Leiden 36-23 including a 26-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Groningen players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Leiden's players. It was a great evening for American swingman Jason Dourisseau (196-83, college: Nebraska) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). His fellow American import point guard Lance Jeter (191-88, college: Nebraska) helped adding 15 points and 10 assists. Five Groningen players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international Rogier Jansen (188-84, agency: Court Side) with 20 points and 4 assists and American point guard Jonathan Lee (188-90, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) scored 20 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Groningen have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 14-1 record. Leiden at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Groningen will play against league's second-placed Zwolle on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Leiden will play against Dukes UDB and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
