Leader Wisla Can-Pack delivered the twelfth victory on Saturday night. This time they crushed 8th ranked Basket Gdynia (5-9) 88-67. They outrebounded Basket Gdynia 39-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Spanish point guard Sandra Ygueravide (172-84) who led her team to a victory scoring 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Jamaican power forward Vanessa Gidden (192-85, college: Hofstra, agency: Josep and Nicolas) helped adding 18 points and 10 rebounds. Four Wisla Can-Pack players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Carolyn Swords (198-89, college: Boston Coll., agency: LBM Management) with 28 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import point guard Renee Montgomery (170-86, college: Connecticut, agency: LBM Management) scored 18 points. Defending champion maintains first place with 12-3 record, which they share with Sleza Wroclaw. Loser Basket Gdynia dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. Wisla Can-Pack will meet at home bottom-ranked TS Ostrovia (#12) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Basket Gdynia will play against AZS UMCS in Lublin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
