There was a minor upset when 8th ranked San Salvatore (6-8) lost on the road to tenth ranked Virtus Cagliari (5-9) 72-58 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Virtus Cagliari. San Salvatore was better in fourth quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international power forward Silvia Sarni (188-87) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Chiara Rossi (170-88, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Four Virtus Cagliari players scored in double figures. Forward Delia Gagliano (180-97) replied with 15 points and 5 rebounds and the former international guard Cinzia Arioli (178-84, agency: LBM Management) added 15 points and 4 steals in the effort for San Salvatore. Virtus Cagliari moved-up to ninth place in A2. Loser San Salvatore keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Virtus Cagliari will face Bolzano (#12) on the road in the next round.
