Regular Season Round 10: Olympiacos - Proteas 86-63

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Ellinikou. Top-ranked Olympiacos faced 4th ranked Proteas. Host Olympiacos (10-0) smashed guests from Voula (5-4) 86-63. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Proteas. The game was mostly controlled by Olympiacos. Proteas was better in second period 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Olympiacos dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Proteas' 38. Olympiacos forced 21 Proteas turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Zoi Dimitrakou (188-87, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who helped to win the game recording 25 points. American forward Lykendra Johnson (185-89, college: Michigan St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Olympiacos' coach Eleni Kapogianni felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Canadian-Serbian forward Stephany Skrba (188-87, college: Michigan) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and the former international guard Angeliki Nikolopoulou (178-91) added 15 points and 6 assists in the effort for Proteas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Olympiacos have an impressive ten-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 10-0 record. Proteas at the other side dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. They share the position with Panathlitikos. Olympiacos will play against Athinaikos (#3) in Athens in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Proteas will play at home against Dafni Agioy and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
