There was an upset in Lugo where 3rd placed Estudiantes L. (8-4) was edged by ninth ranked BVM 2012 (6-5) 72-69 on Sunday. Strangely Estudiantes L. outrebounded BVM 2012 44-28 including a 22-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Brazilian center Dida Pereira (203-92, college: Sequoias CC) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points. American guard Lucas Hausman (190-93, college: Bowdoin, agency: Duran International) helped adding 18 points. The best for the losing side was guard Roberto Abuin (190-95) with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Marcos Ruiz (176-95) scored 19 points and 7 assists. Four Estudiantes L. players scored in double figures. Estudiantes L.'s coach tested ten players in this game, but that didn't help. BVM 2012 have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to seventh place in Group A-B. Loser Estudiantes L. keeps the third position with four games lost. BVM 2012 will face higher ranked Ponferrada CDP (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Estudiantes L. will play against the league's second-placed Leon where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
