Regular Season Round 14: Asseco - Siarka 82-78

Rather expected game in Gdynia where 16th ranked Stabill (2-13) was defeated by fourteenth ranked Asseco (6-9) 82-78 on Sunday. The former international point guard Krzysztof Szubarga (178-84) scored 18 points to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Przemyslaw Zolnierewicz (196-95) chipped in 19 points during the contest. Asseco's coach Przemyslaw Frasunkiewicz used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Alex Welsh (200-94, college: Colorado Springs) responded with 21 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Tomasz Wojdyla (201-77) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Asseco moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with AZS Koszalin. Loser Stabill dropped to the bottom position with 13 games lost. Asseco will meet higher ranked Polpharma (#12) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Stabill will play against TBV Start (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
