No shocking result in a game when eighth ranked Ironi Nahariya (7-7) defeated at home 10th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (5-9) 76-69. Maccabi Ashdod was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Ironi Nahariya dominated on the defensive end, holding Maccabi Ashdod to just 4 points in fourth quarter. Naturalized Swedish power forward Jonathan Skjoldebrand (204-83) notched 18 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and American power forward Yancy Gates (206-89, college: Cincinnati) supported him with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Ironi Nahariya's coach Eric Elfasi allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 19 points by American swingman Chase Simon (198-89, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Three Eye Sports) did not help to save the game for Maccabi Ashdod. The former international Jake Cohen (209-90, college: Davidson) added 5 points and 15 rebounds for the guests. Ironi Nahariya have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Maccabi Rishon. Maccabi Ashdod at the other side keeps the tenth position with nine games lost. Ironi Nahariya's next round opponent will be higher ranked Hapoel Jerusalem (#4) at home and it may be quite challenging game. Maccabi Ashdod will play against the league's second-placed Hapoel Holon (#2) and hope to win that game.
