Regular Season Round 9: Kanazawa Sam. - Toyoda Gosei 84-76

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Kanazawa Sam. (14-2) beat 8th ranked Toyoda Gosei (3-13) in Ishikawa 84-76 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Toyoda Gosei won third quarter 23-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kanazawa Sam. shot 21 for 28 from the free-throw line, while Toyoda Gosei only scored five points from the stripe. They outrebounded Toyoda Gosei 36-24 including 23 on the defensive glass. Toyoda Gosei was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American-Panamanian forward Gyno Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 20 rebounds. American power forward Andrew Fitzgerald (202-90, college: Oklahoma) contributed with 25 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American center Matthew Kendrick (215-90, college: St.Leo) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Eiji Sumihiro (171-89) added 21 points in the effort for Toyoda Gosei. Toyoda Gosei's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Kanazawa Sam. have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Fukuoka Rizing. Toyoda Gosei lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 13 games lost. Kanazawa Sam. will have a break next round. Toyoda Gosei will play at home against Otsuka A. (#4) and hope to win that game.
