Regular Season Round 17: Espoo Utd - FoA 98-63

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Espoo. Third ranked Espoo Utd faced second-ranked Forssan Alku. Host Espoo Utd (12-5) smashed guests from Forssa (12-6) 98-63. It was a key game for the second position in the league. It looked good early as Forssan Alku took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Espoo Utd had a 23-17 second period charge getting the lead and Forssan Alku was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 63-98. Espoo Utd dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Forssan Alku's 32. They outrebounded Forssan Alku 46-35 including 36 on the defensive glass. Espoo Utd players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Forssan Alku's players. American forward Shenita Landry (188-87, college: Temple) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 21 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Ellen Nurmi (183-93, college: Tampa) contributed with 22 points and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Kiana Johnson (168-93, college: Virginia Union) answered with 24 points and 5 assists and the other American import guard Tyonna Snow (178-93, college: Missouri St.) added 23 points in the effort for Forssan Alku. Forssan Alku's coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Espoo Utd have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Forssan Alku at the other side dropped to the third position with six games lost. Espoo Utd will play against Catz Lappeenranta (#4) at home in the next round. Forssan Alku will play against Espoo Team and hopes to get back on the winning track.
