Regular Season Round 16: Rimini - Valdiceppo 69-61

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Valdiceppo (3-12) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Rimini (9-6) 69-61 on Sunday. Rimini outrebounded Valdiceppo 43-26 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Davide Meluzzi (180-98) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and swingman Leonardo Battistini (194-95) who added 13 points and 15 rebounds during the contest. Four Rimini players scored in double figures. At the losing side Riccardo Burini responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and Umberto Meschini (190-94) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Valdiceppo's coach Paolo Pierotti rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Rimini maintains eighth position in B with 9-6 record. Newly promoted Valdiceppo keeps the fourteenth place with 12 games lost. Rimini will face Senigallia (#9) on the road in the next round. Valdiceppo will play against the league's leader Montegrano (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
