Regular Season Round 14: Bnei Hertzeliyya - Maccabi Rishon 71-69

The most exciting game of round 14 in the Winner League took place in Hod Hasharon. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Maccabi Rishon (7-7) to third ranked Bnei Hasharon (9-5) 71-69 on Sunday evening. Maccabi Rishon was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Bnei Hasharon forced 19 Maccabi Rishon turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by Maccabi Rishon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was international forward Karam Mashour (198-91, college: Morehead St.) who scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Jeff Adrien (201-86, college: Connecticut) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. The former international Elishay Kadir (202-87) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and international power forward Idan Zalmanson (206-95) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Bnei Hasharon and four Maccabi Rishon players scored in double figures. Bnei Hasharon moved-up to second place, which they share with Hapoel Holon. Defending champion Maccabi Rishon keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Ironi Nahariya. Bnei Hasharon is looking forward to face Hapoel Eilat (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi Rishon will play against Maccabi K/G and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
