Regular Season Round 15: Avenida - Zamarat 80-73

LFB top team - Perfumerias Avenida (14-1) added another victory to their record on Sunday. This time they beat twelfth ranked Zamarat (5-10) in Salamanca 80-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zamarat. Perfumerias Avenida forced 22 Zamarat turnovers and outrebounded them 30-17 including 19 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Brazilian center Erika De Souza (197-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. American-FYR Macedonian Chrissy Givens (180-85, college: Middle Tenn.St.) chipped in 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Perfumerias Avenida's coach Miguel Angel Ortega allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Starr Breedlove (168-93, college: UTEP) who recorded 17 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and Montenegrin center Ana Turcinovic-Pocek (190-93) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Perfumerias Avenida have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 14-1 record. Zamarat at the other side keeps the twelfth position with ten games lost. Perfumerias Avenida will meet Gipuzkoa UPV (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zamarat will play against CREF Hola in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
