No shocking result in a game in Athens where second ranked Panathinaikos (8-2) smashed 7th ranked PAOK (4-6) 73-52 on Sunday. Panathinaikos dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to PAOK's 22. Panathinaikos forced 20 PAOK turnovers. American center Shamela Hampton (191-87, college: UNLV) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized American guard Niki Avery (168-86, college: E.Kentucky, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 15 points and 6 assists during the contest. Panathinaikos' coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American forward Korinne Campbell (184-88, college: W.Virginia) responded with 13 points and 9 rebounds and guard Myrto Stampoulidou (175-94) scored 13 points and 6 rebounds. Panathinaikos have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-2 record having just two points less than leader Olympiacos. PAOK lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with six games lost. Panathinaikos will meet bottom-ranked Terpsithea (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. PAOK will play against Panionios (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
