Second Stage Round 2: Victoria - Polotsk 63-75

There was a minor upset in Grodno where Victoria (4-10) was defeated by Polotsk (1-1) 75-63. The game was mostly controlled by Polotsk. Victoria was better in second period 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Polotsk forced 22 Victoria turnovers and outrebounded them 41-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. Victoria was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Anna Hatskevich (180-92) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Varvara Verevka contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Yuliya Vasilevich (165-1) replied with 11 points and 8 assists and swingman Iryna Dziachek (175-0) added 11 points in the effort for Victoria. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Polotsk will play against Gorizont II (#5) in Minsk in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Victoria will play on the road against BrGU COR Victoria in Brest and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
