Regular Season Round 17: Joventut - Real Madrid 78-81

Sixteenth-ranked Joventut (4-12) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Real Madrid (13-3) in Badalona. The visitors from Madrid managed to secure only three-point victory 81-78. However their fans expected much easier game. Joventut was ahead by 7 points after three quarters before a 27-17 charge of Real Madrid, which allowed them to win the game. They made 23-of-25 charity shots (92.0 percent) during the game. Real Madrid forced 19 Joventut turnovers. The former international Felipe Reyes (204-80) stepped up and scored 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and international Sergio Llull (190-87) chipped in 12 points and 6 assists. Four Real Madrid players scored in double figures. Jamaican center Jerome Jordan (215-86, college: Tulsa) responded with 15 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and Serbian forward Luka Bogdanovic (206-85) scored 16 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Joventut at the other side keeps the sixteenth place with 12 games lost. Real Madrid will play against league's second-placed Valencia Basket at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Joventut will play against Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#9) in Madrid and hopes to get back on the winning track.
