Regular Season Round 27: Atenas - San Lorenzo 78-92

Date: January 16, 2017
Everything went according to plan in Cordoba where first ranked San Lorenzo (19-7) beat 9th ranked Atenas (10-16) 92-78 on Monday. The game without a history. San Lorenzo led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American center Jerome Meyinsse (207-88, college: Virginia, agency: Stealth Sport) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Uruguayan center Mathias Calfani (204-92, agency: Pro Sports) helped adding 15 points and 8 rebounds. Four San Lorenzo players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Roquez Johnson (201-92, college: Mississippi St.) with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import Walter Baxley (193-84, college: Mars Hill) scored 16 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 19-7 record. Atenas lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 16 games lost. San Lorenzo will face league's second-placed Estudiantes C. in Concordia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Atenas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Cordoba to the arena Instituto.
