Regular Season Round 14: Maccabi Haifa - Maccabi K/G 80-85

Bottom-ranked Maccabi K/G managed to get a third victory, breaking the seven-game losing streak on Monday night. This time they won against eighth-ranked Maccabi Haifa 85-80. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Maccabi Haifa. Maccabi K/G made 28-of-37 free shots (75.7 percent) during the game, while Maccabi Haifa only scored eleven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Maccabi Haifa 47-31 including a 22-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Brandon Bowman (206-84, college: Georgetown) had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import Curtis Kelly (205-88, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) chipped in 21 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Venezuelan point guard Gregory Vargas (180-86, agency: Pro Sports) responded with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and international swingman Amit Simhon (198-89) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Five Maccabi K/G and four Maccabi Haifa players scored in double figures. Maccabi Haifa's coach Ofer Rahimi tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Maccabi K/G maintains twelfth position with 3-11 record. Loser Maccabi Haifa keeps the eighth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Hapoel Eilat. Maccabi K/G will meet higher ranked Maccabi Rishon (#7) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Maccabi Haifa will play against Galil Gilboa in Rosh Pina and hope to secure a win.
