Regular Season Round 16: Gravelines - Le Portel 89-71

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Le Portel (7-9) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (9-7) 89-71. The game was mostly controlled by Gravelines-Dunkerque. Le Portel was better in second period 23-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was also dominated by American players. The winners were led by guard Kyle Gibson (196-87, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: BeoBasket) who scored that evening 28 points and guard Justin Cobbs (191-91, college: California, agency: Pensack Sports) supported him with 21 points and 5 assists. Gravelines-Dunkerque's coach Christian Monschau allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 17 points and 6 rebounds by point guard Darrin Dorsey (188-87, college: Dakota Wesleyan) did not help to save the game for Le Portel. Power forward Franklin Hassell (203-88, college: ODU) added 12 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gravelines-Dunkerque moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Le Portel at the other side keeps the tenth position with nine games lost. Gravelines-Dunkerque's next round opponent will be Le Mans (#5) on the road. Le Portel will play against Olympique Antibes (#17) and hope to win that game.
