Regular Season Round 12: Elitzur Holon - Maccabi Ashdod 70-74

An interesting game for Maccabi Ashdod (9-1) which played road game in Holon against 4th ranked Elitzur Holon (5-6). Second ranked Maccabi Ashdod managed to get a 4-point victory 74-70. Maccabi Ashdod forced 20 Elitzur Holon turnovers. Strangely Elitzur Holon outrebounded Maccabi Ashdod 37-21 including a 14-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Katia Levitsky (190-85, college: Villanova) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and Swedish Abdi Farhiya (188-92) who added 16 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Markel Walker (185-90, college: UCLA) with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists and her fellow American import guard Alexis Hornbuckle (180-85, college: Tennessee) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. Maccabi Ashdod have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Elitzur Holon at the other side keeps the fourth place with six games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Maccabi Raanana (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Elitzur Holon will have a break next round.
