Regular Season Round 31: Akita NH - Hokkaido L. 80-58

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Akita Happinets and 5th ranked Hokkaido L. had identical 7-22 record. This time Akita Happinets used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Saporro 80-58 on Wednesday night. The game without a history. Akita Happinets led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great evening for international guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 9 rebounds. American power forward Evan Ravenel (203-89, college: Ohio St.) helped adding 18 points. At the losing side American center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds and the other American import forward Jahmar Thorpe (198-84, college: Houston) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Akita Happinets (8-22) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sendai 89ers. Hokkaido L. lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the sixth position with 23 games lost. Akita Happinets will face higher ranked Osaka Evessa (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hokkaido L. will play against Shiga L-Stars and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
