Regular Season Round 31: Shiga L-Stars - Nagoya DD 62-75

Rather predictable result when second ranked Diamond Dolphins (19-11) defeated on the road 6th ranked Shiga L-Stars (6-24) 75-62 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Diamond Dolphins. Shiga L-Stars was better in second period 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Diamond Dolphins made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Shiga L-Stars turnovers. It was a great evening for American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Taito Nakahigashi (190-92) helped adding 17 points and 4 assists. At the losing side Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with 25 points and 9 rebounds and American Craig Brackins (208-87, college: Iowa St.) scored 20 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Diamond Dolphins maintains second place with 19-11 record having seven points less than leader SeaHorses, which they share with Chiba Jets. Shiga L-Stars lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 24 games lost. Diamond Dolphins will face Niigata Albirex (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Shiga L-Stars will play against Hokkaido L. in Saporro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
