Regular Season Round 31: Toshiba BT - Hitachi SR 69-66

Fourth-ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (14-14) gave a tough game to first ranked Toshiba Thunders (26-4) in Kanagawa. Toshiba Thunders managed to secure only three-point victory 69-66. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hitachi Sunrockers. It looked good early as Hitachi Sunrockers took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Toshiba Thunders had a 18-9 second period charge getting the lead and Hitachi Sunrockers were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-69. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. International point guard Yuma Fujii (178-91) accounted for 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Soichiro Fujitaka (190-91) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Hitachi Sunrockers in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Toshiba Thunders. They maintain first place with 26-4 record. Hitachi Sunrockers at the other side keep the fourth position with 14 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will play against league's second-placed Tochigi Brex on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Sendai 89ers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
