Second Stage Round 7: BJBS Riga - Riga/Ridzene 81-104

Riga/Ridzene can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as it came on the road game in Riga, where they outplayed BJBS Riga (0-6) 104-81. The game without a history. Riga/Ridzene led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Riga/Ridzene outrebounded BJBS Riga 45-29 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Gustavs Karlis Kampuss (180-99) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Kristaps Vitolins (186-99) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all six shots !!!) for the winners. Four Riga/Ridzene players scored in double figures. Guard Ingus Lapans (196-98) answered with 30 points and guard Aivars Dambis (183-0) added 16 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals in the effort for BJBS Riga. Newly promoted Riga/Ridzene maintains twentieth place with 1-5 record. It was BJBS Riga's fourth loss in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Riga/Ridzene will play against higher ranked Jekabpils II (#19) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BJBS Riga's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Riga to the arena VEF skola.
