Regular Season Round 12: Bergen - Gimle Pride 50-72

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Bergen: Gimle Pride (#5) and Bergen (#6). Bergen was smashed at home by 22 points 50-72 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It looked good early as Bergen took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gimle Pride had a 18-9 second period charge getting the lead and Bergen was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 50-72. Gimle Pride forced 29 Bergen turnovers and outrebounded them 42-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The winners were led by forward Birte Hegrenaes (177-88) who scored that evening 19 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and swingman Josefin Winther (180-86) supported her with 8 points and 14 rebounds. Even 8 points and 4 assists by point guard Sigrid Hardie (163-94) did not help to save the game for Bergen. Guard Kaia Brendesaeter (169-99) added 12 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gimle Pride (4-8) moved-up to fourth place. Bergen lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Gimle Pride will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Bergen will play at home against Asker (#3) to get more than just one victory in their record.
