Regular Season Round 31: Niigata Albirex - Yokohama BC 74-72

Fifth-ranked Yokohama BC (11-19) gave a tough game to third ranked Niigata Albirex (16-14) on Wednesday. Niigata Albirex managed to secure only two-point victory 74-72. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Yokohama BC. Yokohama BC was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 10-point lead after three quarters before a 30-18 charge of Niigata Albirex, which allowed them to win the game. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists. The former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) produced 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and American forward Jeffrey Parmer (203-85, college: Florida Atlantic) added 18 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Niigata Albirex maintains third place with 16-14 record having ten points less than leader SeaHorses, which they share with Osaka Evessa. Loser Yokohama BC keeps the fifth position with 19 games lost. Niigata Albirex will meet at home league's second-placed Diamond Dolphins in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yokohama BC will play against the league's leader Toyota Alvark in Tokyo and hope to secure a win.
